Over ten years ago, three friends gathered to taste a coffee brought back as a souvenir from a trip. As they sipped, they began to talk about Finns’ love for coffee—and a question arose: Why isn’t there a coffee festival in Finland? At the time, the only such event they knew of was in London. After just a few sips, the friends decided to combine their skills in event planning and their passion for better coffee.
The very first Helsinki Coffee Festival was held in spring 2015 at Kattilahalli in Suvilahti. In just five years, the event doubled its number of visitors and expanded to include tea, chocolate, and ice cream. The festival moved forward joyfully and passionately—and eventually, kombucha joined the lineup as well.
Even the COVID years didn’t stop the festival; in fact, the team even grew during that time. They chose to believe in a brighter future. In 2022, the event broke its attendance record with over 9,000 visitors. The driving force was a bold belief in the team’s work and the idea that there is a growing need for quality events and experiences, especially in challenging times.
Audience records were broken again in the following years, and today, Helsinki’s Cable Factory fills with over 10,000 treat-lovers every April.
In 2025, Northern Europe’s largest coffee festival—Helsinki Coffee Festival—celebrates its 10th anniversary, alongside the Ice Cream and Chocolate Carnival, the most delicious event of the year, at Helsinki's Cable Factory.
Like a good friendship, a quality event stands the test of time and grows better each year, driven by shared passion and love.
